First Day of Spring Racing

Saturday was indeed the first day of Spring and it gave us perfect sailing weather, with mostly sunny skies, light winds and in the low 70s in the morning--perfect shorts and t-shirt weather too! We had 9 Butterflys and 2 Sunfish on the line for the first two races. It was great to see Tom C. healthy and back on the docks and many others returned to the lake after a couple months of boycotting the winter weather! The fleet managed to meet at the marks in groups from all directions and the first two races finished in a conga line! Clouds blew in and the wind came up a bit during our lunch break so the third race was blowing more than the first two. Shaun traded in his Sunfish and raced his Butterfly for the third race. Apparently, his Butterfly felt jilted after he'd sailed the first two races in another boat, so it threw Shaun in the water after the second mark. Also apparently the race committee wanted to stir things up a bit so it threw a few new whistles and flags into the starting sequence, but the intrepid racers didn't let a few little details like that get in the way of a great day for sailing! And a fine time was had by all!
