8/29/09 RACING

On Saturday, we not only had wind, we had crazy wind. Hiking out too far was sometimes necessary, but one did so with a lot of caution. It was what you might call "swirly", to say the least. It was a beautiful day, and everyone enjoyed it in spite of the wild wind. It wasn't that it blew too hard, it was just that you didn't know where it was coming from next.

Gary and Catherine put on 3 great races. On the last leg of the first race, Frank managed to get by Sandy to win, and then Sandy won the next two races.

We had 8 Butterflys, and a couple Sunfish skippered by Amanda and Marshall. Amber is looking good in that pretty new boat of hers, and seemed to handle the tricky winds well. And surprise, surprise, Laurie was out there. We don't see enough of Laurie and it was nice to see her out there. She also raced well.

We have been having some great Saturdays for racing this summer. As the weather starts to cool down, it will get even better. Make a point to be out there.
