2-20-2010 RACING
by Tom
At last, we had some "fairly warm" weather for Saturday racing with the temperature in the mid 50s. Despite that, I, and others, were still layered up with clothes.
Jim, who just moved here from Minnesota, had on shorts and a short sleeved T-shirt. I guess we Texans are sissies.
We had lots of people on the dock, but only 4 racers. Vivian came down with Jim, and had a big boot on her leg where she injured it while playing tennis. Amber was there, but did not race. Bruce rigged, went out to the starting line, and then had to leave.
So, you will see new names in the winners circle this time. Your humble reporter managed to eke out wins in all 3 races. In the first race, Miles was 2nd, Dave was 3rd and Jim was 4th. In the second race, Dave was 2nd, Jim was 3rd and Miles was 4th. In the last race, Jim was 2nd, Miles was 3rd and Dave was 4th.
The wind was really great. It was blowing 10-12, maybe 15, but was pretty steady and not shifty at all. We had some waves, but not too bad for that wind. Sandy and Megan had the duty, and had to make a course change after the first race, but it was just that the wind had clocked around to more southerly.
Megan was very stylish in her leather Australian hat.
One more Saturday of noon starts and then it is back to the 10:30 starting time.
