As has been said around our dock for many years, don't listen to the weather people, just come to the dock. It was proven again on Saturday. With rain forecast all around the area, we had a great day with no rain and got in 3 races.
The wind was a little gusty and swirly, but not too bad. Burton and Dave had the duty and put on 3 good courses. They ran them all back to back in case it did rain. It did not.
We had a big pleasant surprise on the line. Laurie was there for the first time in a while. Other racers were Sandy, Frank, Amber and Tom.
In the first race, Laurie was kicking butt. She was first at the windward mark, and continued to race right along with Frank and Sandy 'til the end of the race. She looked great. Of course, those two meanies beat her out at the end. So, in the first race, it was Sandy 1st, Frank 2nd and Laurie 3rd.
Laurie said that her absence was because she had been working. Sandy said he thought she had spent the winter in the Bahamas to practice her racing.
Just prior to the start of the second race, a bolt broke in Tom's rudder/tiller assembly, and he was towed to the dock. It was repaired and he was out for the 3rd race.
Sandy was first in the second race, Frank was 2nd and Laurie was 3rd.
Sandy won the 3rd race, as well, with Frank 2nd and Tom 3rd.
A good day of racing. Also on the dock were Jackie, Bruce, Megan, Roger and Miles.
The WRBC dock was very active. Chris and Megan had WRBC sailing lessons. It was well attended with 16 participants. Several club members offered their boats for the on the lake part of the lessons. It seemed to be a big success with several of the new people saying that they really enjoyed it. Among the students in the lessons were Amber's sister and Jackie's daughter-in-law.
In spite of the weather reports, we had a very active and fun day on the lake.
Thanks to all.
