5-8-10 RACING

by Tom
Another beautiful day. Another squirrelly, crazy windy day. The wind was out of the east and, as you know, when it comes over that hill, it does crazy things.

Norm and Amber had the duty and Tom joined them for the 3rd race. The racers were Bruce, Gary, Sandy, Bob, Jim and a surprise skipper. Catherine was out there for the first time in quite a while. She looked great in the boat and handled the crazy wind very well.

Bruce won the 1st race, with Sandy 2nd and Gary 3rd. Sandy was 1st in the second race, Gary 2nd and Bruce 3rd.

Bruce lead the 3rd race all the way with a considerable lead. Coming up the last leg, the wind really got shifty. When Bruce was within 10 feet of the finish line, he was hit with a big header and stopped him cold.

In fact, he was going backwards. Sandy caught up with him at the line, but met the same wind Bruce had and he also stalled. While those two tried to get moving, Gary, with a big grin on his face, came in on a different angle to the wind and sailed right past both of them to win the race. Bruce was 2nd, Sandy 3rd.

So for those of us that spend our time back in the middle of the fleet and think that those things only happen to us, you can see it happens to the best, as well.

We are about to have the fleet boats ready to go, again. We have all of the parts and have made some repairs. It is just a matter of putting everything together.

See you at the lake.
