11-19-11 RACING

by Pam
Small fleet with strong winds hitting the 20s.  It was interesting to watch everyone sail.  The older hands looked like pros and the newbies showed lots of improvement and handled themselves nicely in the wind.

Sandy, being in his kind of weather, jumped out and won the first two races and made it look easy.  In the first race, he was almost a leg ahead of the fleet.  Bruce wowed everyone on the committee boat with his strong abs and hiking that was just down right impressive and it won him the last race.  Burton executed a picture perfect tip, hit the centerboard without getting his shoes wet, gently brought the boat up and let it hang there long enough to spin slightly into the wind and was back in and racing without losing much distance.  Frank came out for the first race, had a good finish and decided he had nothing left to prove.  Brad came out for one race and sailed quite well and then Luigi joined us for the last race and impressed Doug with his much improved boat handling and hiking.

Low turnout but lots of good practice and some fun sailing to watch.  Thanks Kurt for coming out and doing duty and tolerating me and Doug and our unusual way of communicating.
