One view from CSC's Harbor Cam
Saturday morning, it starts to get light outside, I roll over in my warm bed and reach for the iPad on the nightstand and go to the fleet website, I check the right margin and see a picture of White Rock Lake from the CSC harbor cam as well as a quick summary that tells me the air temperature is 35, the water temperature is 36, and the wind has been as high at 19 this morning and is now 11. Just like that, I know there is about a 100% chance that no one is sailing today so I roll over and enjoy my warm bed for a little longer.

A big shout out to Corinthian Sailing Club for installing and maintaining the cameras and weather station at White Rock Lake and making those available for everyone on the Internet.  It's a sailor's dream to have that information so handy. Also, it's nice that they have allowed us to capture some of that data and have it available on our website for easy reference.

But check this out ... how cool would it be to have a harbor cam and weather station at WRBC? Last I saw there were cameras and a weather station but the information isn't available online and all of the cameras for some odd reason were all facing the docks instead of the water.  Almost like the focus was on distrust of security systems or membership rather than sailing.  Surely, we just saw some experimental camera placement and some really smart sailor will turn those suckers around and make them available online.

There are two sailing clubs to choose from on White Rock Lake. Doug and I have been members of both in the past and then decided to be NOMAD (No MOre Annual Dues) sailors and we simply trailer launch our boats. At this point, with all the different boats we sail, neither club can accommodate us so it's the only option available. While each option has its own appeal and meets different needs, the Butterfly fleet and racing is common ground and is open to any and all and doesn't discriminate in people, club, or boat (Butterfly, Lasers, Sunfish are welcome every Saturday ... well ... except today). Very cool!
