It's a week before the official start of winter, but close enough to call this a pretty perfect day for winter sailing.  A tad too windy for some but warm temperatures with wind from the south - the best kind.  Nine Butterfly and three Laser sailors started the racing day, a couple of Butterflys quickly retreated.  A very nice race course set up by Burton and Amber.

The day looks sunny and Burton is all smiles.
Paul was impossible to beat and Doug H., John, and Bruce traded 2nd place and all looked good.  I could not catch any of them or Marshall.  George and I brought up the rear for the most part and it was nice to have someone to compete with back in the "cheap seats".  Best of all we all stayed upright even with that 21 mph gust that went through around 12:30.  I could even see the experts struggling with that one.

I got lots of great advice during the break about how to handle the heavier air and waves, but alas for the last race, the wind settled down so I did not get to practice.  I didn't mind in the least though because then the wind was near perfect with a little sun peaking through to add to the effect.

It was a good day to sail.

Later, the sun peaking through the clouds and Butterfly sailors enjoying the day.
