1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be
governed by the rules as defined in The Racing
Rules of Sailing (RRS).
1.2 Rule A2 will
be changed to provide that when fewer than five (5) races are completed, a boat’s
score will be the total of her race scores.
1.3 Rule A4.2 will
be changed to provide that a boat that does not finish or retires after finishing
will be scored points for the finishing position one more than the last
place finisher.
1.4 Rule 66 will
be changed to provide that on the last day of the regatta, a request to reopen
a hearing shall be delivered (a) within the protest time limit if the party
requesting reopening was informed of the decision on the previous day or (b) no
later than 30 minutes after the party requesting reopening was informed of the
decision on the last day.
2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
2.1 The regatta is
open to all boats of the Butterfly class that comply with the NBA Class Rules.
2.2 Skippers must
be in good standing with the NBA.
2.3 Junior award
is open to all skippers and crew under
17 years of age on June 10, 2016 .
2.4 Open division sailors must sail without crew.
2.5 Junior skippers may elect to sail with a
crew. If a junior elects to take a crew,
they must indicate this at registration. The crew must be a junior, must be used
for every race, and must remain the same throughout the regatta. Juniors
sailing with crew are eligible for Junior awards, but not overall Race or
Regatta trophies or awards.
2.6 Sail numbers must be properly displayed and
may not be changed during the regatta.
2.7 Eligible
competitors may register online at http://fleet20.blogspot.com or mail the
attached form.
2.8 Entries will
be accepted through the close of registration on June 11, 2016 .
3 FEES
The entry fee will
be $75.00 and includes all meals for one and a regatta t-shirt. Entries postmarked or completed on the
internet after May 29, 2016 ,
or completed during registration will be subject to a late fee of $20. Extra meals and regatta t-shirts may be
purchased. Entry fees may be paid by
mailing check or paid by check or cash during regatta on-site check-in. Checks should be made payable to Robert Van
Buren and mailed to Paul Miller, 9408

5 MEASUREMENT
Boats may be
randomly selected at any time prior to the end of the protest period of the
last race by the Jury to be checked for compliance with Butterfly Class Rules.
6 SAILING
INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing
instructions will be available at
registration.
7 VENUE
Races will be
sailed on White Rock Lake , Dallas , Texas .
8 COURSES
8.1 The courses to be sailed will be Windward/Leeward, Triangle, Gold Cup or Olympic.
8.2 An offset mark
may be used as part of the Windward/Leeward course.
8.3 A leeward gate
may be used as part of the Windward/Leeward course.
9 SCORING
9.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A.
9.2 Seven (7) races are scheduled.
One (1) race shall be
completed to constitute a series.
9.3 Appendix A
will be changed in accordance with paragraphs 1.2 and 1.3 above.
10 SUPPORT
BOATS
Team leaders,
coaches and other support personnel shall stay outside areas where boats are
racing from the time of the preparatory signal until all boats have finished or
the race committee signals a postponement, general recall or abandonment.
11 LAUNCHING AND BERTHING
Launching and
boat storage will be available at the White Rock Boat Club and the nearby
Corinthian Sailing Club. Trailer storage will be available.
12 RADIO
COMMUNICATION
A boat shall
neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications
not available to all boats. This restriction applies to mobile telephones.
13 PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded
as follows:
13.1 First (1st
) through fifth (5th ) places, Tune-Up Winner, Top Junior and Top
Woman.
13.2 Class perpetual
trophies.
14 DISCLAIMER
OF LIABILITY
Competitors
participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to
Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material
damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to,
during, or after the regatta.
15 HOUSING
Competitors may wish to consult http://fleet20.blogspot.com which lists
some local hotels. The lake is located
in a city park and overnight camping is not allowed. If desired, out of town competitors may
contact the regatta Chairperson who will try to arrange local housing.
