First Round Table

It was just a little too cold and a little too windy for sailing on Saturday. However, a small group gathered Saturday afternoon for the first Round Table Club meeting. We discussed starts in general along with starting strategies, in particular, for the upcoming Easter Laser Regatta and the Butterfly Nationals. Then we moved on to wind shifts, local knowledge, and boat handling including better pointing by getting more lift out of the centerboard (with Doug demonstrating the theory with crude paper sails). All who attended, from experienced to beginner, indicated they learned something from the discussions. It was an excellent opportunity for those like me with big holes in their knowledge and interesting (if not a little far fetched) theories about how and why things worked, to finally ask how and why without feeling intimidated.
We look forward to the next meeting scheduled in May. Begin thinking about what subjects you would like to see covered in future round table discussions.
