8-1-09 RACING

by Tom
With dark threatening, lightening filled skies, it looked a little questionable for racing Saturday morning. It then rained pretty hard for 30-40 minutes, and the racing was surely in doubt.

Then it quit raining and there was a nice breeze. We all rigged and had 9 Butterflys on the line along with 3 Lasers and one Sunfish. The wind was ok, but a little squirrelly. We all had many tacks we didn't expect to have, along with tacks that did not work out.

Gary and Dave were on committee and put on good races for the conditions. Burton, Frank and Bob V. won the races. Congrats to them.

In the 3rd race Frank had an insurmountable lead. Unfortunately, the wind died, and the lead became a frustration as he sat not moving. UGH!!

The sun stayed behind the clouds, and it was relatively cool for a day in August.

You cannot count on the weatherman. Come to the lake. We may be racing while you are home thinking the weather is bad.
