9-26-09 RACING

With Saturday being such a beautiful day, it was surprising that we only had eight Butterflys on the line. We would have had 9, but Marsha had boat problems and couldn't get out.
The wind was quite shifty. It was not swirly, and it was not blowing too hard, just very shifty. There were times when you could not hold a tack, and others where you could stay for quite a while if you happened to be in the "right place". Then suddenly, the "right place" could be on the other side of the course. It was a lot of fun, however.
Frank won the first 2 races and was leading in the 3rd, but Bruce passed him going upwind the 2nd time in the Olympic course and won the race. Sandy had two second place finishes.
Not only did Megan look very chic in her red blouse that matched the red deck on her boat, but she raced extremely well. She did not win any races, but she was right up there with our top skippers in the 2nd and 3rd races. Bob and Amber had race duty and set some good courses in the shifty winds.
The fall weather is great for racing. Come on out and race with us.
