Our annual Christmas Party/Meeting was Friday night. Thank you Gary and Nelda for generously volunteering to host this party. Thank you Bruce and Frank for the sailing video that you created and brought for viewing. It was very good.
As always, I felt like the party portion of the evening was too short and the meeting portion was too long.
Burton, in his absense, was voted in as the new Fleet Captain. We are hoepful that he will accept the position. Bob, in his absense, was voted to continue as Race Chairman and we are hopeful that he will agree to continue. Bruce will remain as Secretary/Treasurer and Gary will remain as Fleet Liaison. Although there is no official position, pending the new Fleet Captain's consent, I was voted to continue maintenance of the website.
Highlights of the meeting were that the Wrangle will be a Butterfly only event in 2010. We will make a slight change to the scoring portion of our Saturday Sailing Instructions. We are moving drills from Saturday to Wednesday nights for those that want to participate. We also increased the responsiblities of the Race Chairman to remind the race committee with respect to starting on time, instructing or separating non-Butterflyers so as not to interfere with racing fleets and on proper storage of the rescue boat's motor during the winter months. It was also voted to establish a committee to address ongoing winter safety awareness and preparedness. All else was business as usual or play it by ear and tweak as we go.
