1-2-2010 RACING

Saturday, the first sailing day of 2010, was absolutely beautiful. Although the temperature never got above 50 degrees, there was not a cloud in the sky, and the wind, except for the first race, was perfect.Several of us agreed that we all had about one layer of clothing to many.We had 8 boats on the line. Bob, and his son, Ian handled the race duty. Ian is home for the holidays from college in Missouri. It was nice to meet him, and have him on the lake with us.

Jim and Vivian, whom we all met at the Christmas party, were on the dock. Jim raced with us. He said it was the first time that he had actually raced a Butterfly.

Norm was on his Butterfly, and was trying to figure it out after racing Lasers all summer and fall.

It will not come as a shock to anyone that Bruce won all three races. Paul, who is also home from college for the holidays raced with us as well. He hasn't forgotten anything about racing, coming in 2nd in the second and third races. In the first race, Burton was second and Sandy was third. Burton was 3rd in the second race and Frank was third in the 3rd race.

After the start of the first, the wind died. Really died. We all sat. We could see wind down by the dam, but it stayed there. It finally came up for the last leg of the first race and the rest of the afternoon.

It was a beautiful day on the lake.
