7/17/10 RACING

I recently saw a cartoon where the Emcee at a beauty pageant asked one of the contestants what was the capitol of Texas. She answered "T". Well, on Saturday, we had winds that were tricky with the same capital T. They were out of the west. That is, when we had them.
Bruce and Sandy had the duty, and I am sure that it was long and boring for them just watching boats try to move. I don't mean that we didn't have any wind. At times we had good wind, although it was a little tricky and shifty. Tack, and tack back. Then there were areas where there was none to speak of.
Pam and Doug were on the line this morning. In case you didn't know, this is their 1st wedding anniversary. Yes, they were married a year ago, and kept it a secret until now. So, congratulations to them.
In the first race, Pam sailed her Butterfly and Doug raced his Laser. Pam won that race with Gary second and Frank 3rd. n the second race, Doug raced the Butterfly and won with Frank 2nd and Gary 3rd.
In the 3rd race, Shaun raced the same Butterfly as Pam and Doug, but he didn't fair as well. He was in good position to finish high, but the wind died, and so did he about 30 yards from the finish line. It looked like Bob could have won the 3rd race, but he also hit a dead spot near the line and finished 3rd behind Gary and Frank. Megan, Miles, Tom, Burton and Dave were also out in the heat trying to make those boats go.
In spite of the wind conditions and the heat, it was still a good day on the lake.
