The forecast for Saturday was very nice, high of 91, and wind out of the SE at 5-10 mph. Since the Snipes have started a Saturday morning program, Cameron handed his Butterfly race duty off to me and Amber brought along her friend Brenda.
It was a slightly chaotic day with a 100 person event at WRBC so in addition to the usual we tried to get everyone's lunch on the committee boat so we could take our noon break at CSC. Right before we left shore to set the course, Luigi stopped by to tell us he'd been busy . . . getting married!
The first two races were W2 1/2 to minimize our space on the lake and also just to do something different. e got some good comments from the sailors as far as the course - though it was a little short with everyone finishing in about 30 minutes. After the first race, Burton commented it would have been perfect except for the fact he came in 2nd. Paul came in 1st in all three races with a substantial lead. Everyone sailed well and stayed pretty much together and it was great to be out on the lake for an end of the summer race.
Out on the lake it was quieter than at the boat club but with three fleets on the lake (Butterflys, Snipes, and Corinthians) there were a few moments of chaos there as well. We set our course first and assumed the Corinthians would be further south, past Jackson Point. They surprised us on the last race by apparently setting a race course right on top or through ours. By that time we were heading in so no harm was done except to leave me wondering exactly what kind of race course that was - since 2 boats headed south and the rest of the Corinthian fleet headed east. Interesting!

Retirement looks good on you Cathy!
We were in Austin for a Fish regatta last weekend and Arlington for a Laser regatta this weekend. Doug is headed for France next weekend but hopefully I'll be able to come sail or at least visit.
Had some interesting experiences at my regatta and would love to get some feedback on rules.
