3-28-2015 Racing

The lake was crowded so we set a W 2 1/2 course on the NW part of the lake.  The day started off cool with winds 12-15 mph from the south.  It quickly seemed to warm up and by the 3rd race the wind had gotten much lighter and was in the 5-10 mph range.  Seven Butterfly sailors came out to the race course with two Lasers joining us for the 2nd and 3rd race.

We motored up to the finish line to take photos from there since otherwise I was shooting into the sun.  Close competition ruled the windward mark with a few near capsizes during jibes.

Top three finishers for the races:

1st race, Paul, Burton, Gary.
2nd race:  Paul, Burton, Frank.
3rd race: Gary, Paul, John.

The 3rd race was particularly fun to watch.  Gary led the race by a large margin most of the time and Paul worked his way up through the fleet to come in second.  Sam and James stayed closer to the fleet and Sam managed to get past James at the finish line.
