1-23-10 RACING

Should we go? Should we not go? We all stood around discussing the oncoming storm, and the lack of wind. After all of that, we decided to go. Roger and Gary had the duty, and with all of their experience on White Rock Lake, they set just the right length races for the wind.

As often happens, we had enough wind to get to the starting line, and then it died. We all floated around for a while, and then the wind came up and gave us a good finish. Sandy won, with Bruce second and Frank third.

The committee lengthened and changed the course for the 2nd race. During that race, we had good wind, plus a lot of rain. Yes, the storm came through. Most had on foul weather gear, so we didn't get too wet. Luigi, however, was in short sleeves, and was pretty cold. Sandy won again, with Bruce 2nd, and Amber edging out Frank for 3rd. That pretty orange boat looked good mixed in with all of the usual boats we see in the win column. Good for you, Amber. Great race.

After the 2nd race, the wind really came up, and it started to rain pretty hard. That was it for the day. On the WRBC dock, we were all very wet, and became much wetter while putting up our gear.

It was really a fun day in spite of it all.
