2-6-10 RACING

For those of you that stayed home because you thought it would be too cold to race, you were right. It was. The weather people said that it would be 50 degrees and sunny. It was on Friday, but not even close on Saturday. I think the temperature was in the 42 area, and no sun.
Peter and Norm had race duty, and they were hoping that no one would go. However, sailors being what they are, we went. We had 6 boats at the beginning, but lost Dave and Luigi in the first race. Bruce, Sandy, Frank and Tom were out there for all three races.
The wind was quite good for the day. Probably 8-10, some gusts. In the first race, the wind was very consistent, and it was pretty much a parade, with no chances to gain on anyone. Bruce won, with Sandy second and Frank Third. In the second race, we started to get some shifty winds. On the second time upwind, Sandy sailed into a hole and died. He did manage to catch up on a later leg, and finished third, behind Frank, who was first, and Bruce in second.
By the 3rd race, we were all getting cold and tired. We raced a T 1 1/3 with Frank winning again, Sandy second and Bruce in third.
Let's see ... if we had 4 boats and Frank, Bruce and Sandy came in 1,2 and 3 in all of the races, I guess that other guy must have been a consistent fourth.
Roger was on the committee boat for the first race. I am not sure, but I think I heard Norm and Peter talking about starting a bonfire on the committee boat to get warm. It was a lot colder for them than for us. We appreciated the job they did.
I saw a long range forecast, and once again, they are saying 50+ and sunny for next Saturday. Here's hoping!!!
