2014 Single-Handed Nationals - Day 2 (Final)

by Pam
Two races today and they finished early, having sailed six races for the regatta. Jim Young again punched out in the 5th race and sailed a beautiful race, finishing first which put just one point between he and Doug for the championship.

Race 6 was some heavy match racing and tacking duels between Jim and Doug with them rounding the first mark in the teens. The finish was apparently close with Joe Terry winning the race but Doug and Jim had made their way back to the front of fleet to finish 2nd and 3rd.

Doug will concede that Jim was the best sailor on the course, sailed beautifully and had boat speed to burn ... however, Doug was 2nd in the 6th race and Jim was 3rd, meaning Doug is bringing the championship trophy home to Dallas again.

Paul had a better day and finished, be believes, 7th overall.  They'll be home this evening.
