3-6-2010 RACING

by Tom
Another great day on the lake. In the afternoon, it warmed up to the mid 60s. In the morning, it was a little cool, but comfortable. The winds were probably 10-12 and fairly consistent. They were not at all shifty like they were last week. It did get a little wavy, so we all had a bumpy ride.

Shaun and Marsha set a good course, and they did not have to make any changes during the 3 races.

We had nine boats on the line. Lynn was there after a long absence. He remembered how to make that boat go, because he raced in the group of 5 boats that all raced right together at the front. We hope he comes back soon.

Burton, who won the first 2 races, had trouble at the leeward mark in the 3 race, and went over. Quick as a cat, he was on top of the boat, and got it up real fast. He never even got wet. Great recovery.

In the first race, Bruce was 2nd and Gary was 3rd. In the 2nd race, Bruce was 2nd and Sandy 3rd. Sandy won the 3rd race, with Bruce 2nd and Gary 3rd.

Due to a stolen car, we have lost the gear for the fleet boats. If anyone has any extra gear that they can spare, we would appreciate having it. The 2 fleet boats are the new style. We need Sheets, boom vangs, and rudder/tiller sets. The fleet boats are now out of service until we get some parts.
